By electing the first board of directors, in which Harvey was President and Ari was Vice-President, they charted a clear path forward, and the members of this new organization laid the groundwork for a future built on collaboration and mutual support. The significance of this event cannot be understated; it sowed the seeds for what would grow into a powerful advocate for the profession, including voluntary education, listserve, trainings, and annual conferences that has brought international attendance.

Soon after FAPI's initial gathering, the organization faced a considerable threat in the form of potentially dangerous and restrictive legislation proposed in Tallahassee. This pivotal moment tested the resolve and commitment of the private investigation community. Both serve on the boards of other investigative and civic organizations in multiple capacities.
