FAPI Investigative Insights Webinar- September 10, 2025, 12pm-1pm EST
Topic: Interviewing Witnesses & Obtaining Statements: Techniques for Investigators
Brief Description:
In most investigations, interviews are the key to uncovering the truth — but witnesses’ accounts often conflict, and memories can fade or be influenced over time. This session will walk investigators through strategies for preparing and conducting effective interviews, from establishing credibility and building rapport to using rationalizations and assumptive questioning to elicit critical admissions. Attendees will learn how to identify unspoken facts, re-interview effectively, and develop detailed written statements that stand up to scrutiny. Drawing on real-world investigative experience, Jeff Stein will share best practices for maximizing information gathering, preserving witness integrity, and supporting investigative findings across criminal defense, insurance, workplace misconduct, and negligent security cases.
